Job Introduction
Based in one of our busy kitchens in Central London, duties would be varied. You would learn on rotation how to lead the different sections within the kitchen, further develop your experience with food preparation, cooking techniques and work safely within HSE guidance. You would also learn how to manage junior chefs and support the sous chef with additional responsibilities. You would complete the apprenticeship on day-release from site. Once the course is completed, we would encourage your development through the business to gain promotion.
Tasks could include, but not limited to:
- the preparation of food,
- baking
- service
- stocktaking
- moving stock
- cleaning
There will be supervision responsibility of other staff.

WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?
An apprenticeship is a funded programme where an individual learns new skills, knowledge and behaviours in a chosen sector. An apprenticeship will enable you to work and earn a wage whilst developing and gaining new skills as an employee.
Alongside your day to day duties, you will complete the Chef de Partie Level 3 Apprenticeship. . This is a nationally recognised qualification and the primary objective of the Chef de Partie is to support all the cefs in the kitchen and to supervise and mentor the more junior chefs. You will attend college 1 day each week during term-time and will be supported through this qualification by your Personal Development Coach. You will be visited at your place of work. All travel expenses will be covered by your employer. You are not expected to complete any of your Apprenticeship work outside of your working hours. .

What we'll give:
APPRENTICE CHEF DE PARTIE
SALARY: £12.94 per hour
LOCATION: Compass Group UK & Ireland, Somerset House, The Strand, London. WC2R 1LA
REPORTING TO: Ben Harman
HOURS/WORKING PATTERN: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
DURATION: Minimum 12 months

Over a 18 month period you will be trained to become a fully Qualified Chef de Partie.

Your Apprenticeship is fully funded by Compass UK and Ireland, via the Apprenticeship Levy.

For that reason, each candidate must meet certain criteria’s in order to be eligible for funding. This ensures our offer is compliant with all the quality and funding rules. Therefore, you will be required to complete the following:
Screening Call – you will receive a screening call to establish if you will be eligible for us to claim funding for your apprenticeship training with our training provider and the rules for this are set out in the ESFA funding rules 2022/2023.
European Social Fund – The Skills Funding Agency operates as a co-financing organisation for ESF and assures EU funding is correctly spent. The European Social Fund (ESF) is a structural fund from the European Union. It improves the skills of the workforce and helps people who have difficulties finding work. All our apprenticeships are compliant with ESF funding.
