Job Introduction
The Chef De Partie will be responsible for keeping the kitchen running smoothly by being competent in all sections. Supporting & being capable of running most sections during service. Demonstrating and teaching the core mechanics of a kitchen and engaging other team members of staff at every opportunity to further their development. Must be very confident in their cooking skills & being the only chef onsite. Needs to be able to take charge & support the front of house staff with service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To frequently taste all dishes & there ingredients independently and to actively engage junior chefs to do the same.
- Refine their own palette, by requesting repeated feedback from senior chefs.
- To be inquisitive, and curious about flavour-pairing, cooking techniques & cuisine styles.
- Execute & enforce the maintenance of kitchen work areas
- Keeping all food storage areas immaculate, understanding and performing correct stock rotation and labelling
- Compiling & performing daily cleaning rotas
- To be well organised, and able to manage less experienced members of the team
- Keen to improve, and climb the ladder, and be confident enough to propose alternative suggestions to plating, cooking and seasoning
- Self-motivated
There will be supervision responsibility of other staff.
More about the role:
An apprenticeship is a funded programme where an individual learns new skills, knowledge and behaviours in a chosen sector. An apprenticeship will enable you to work and earn a wage whilst developing and gaining new skills as an employee.
Alongside your day-to-day duties, you will complete the Chef de Partie Level 3 Apprenticeship. This is a nationally recognised qualification and the primary objective of Chef de Partie is to learn and understand how to support senior chefs and to supervise junior chefs. You will either learn in-unit or attend college 1 day each week during term-time and will be supported through this qualification by your Personal Development Coach. You will also be visited at your place of work. All travel expenses will be covered by your employer. You are not expected to complete any of your Apprenticeship work outside of your working hours.

APPRENTICE CHEF DE PARTIE
SALARY: £12.06 per hour
LOCATION: Compass Group UK & Ireland Ltd, No. 1 London Gateway, Stanford-le-Hope, London. SS17 9DY
REPORTING TO: General Manager
HOURS/WORKING PATTERN: 30 hours per week Monday to Sunday, varying shift pattern
DURATION: Minimum 18 months

Your Apprenticeship is fully funded by Compass UK and Ireland, via the Apprenticeship Levy.

Screening Call – you will receive a screening call to establish if you will be eligible for us to claim funding for your apprenticeship training with our training provider and the rules for this are set out in the ESFA funding rules 2022/2023.
European Social Fund – The Skills Funding Agency operates as a co-financing organisation for ESF and assures EU funding is correctly spent. The European Social Fund (ESF) is a structural fund from the European Union. It improves the skills of the workforce and helps people who have difficulties finding work.
