Do you have a real passion for cooking but have not necessarily considered a career as a chef? Well now is the time, as we have a great opportunity for an Apprentice Commis Chef to join our Levy team at the very prestigious O2 Arena in London.

We are looking for a driven, ambitious and passionate individual who is looking to take their first step into a Commis Chef role. You will be supported to complete the Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship.

You’ll be working for the World’s largest caterer, a Company that employ more Chefs than anyone else so we know a thing or two about developing our people for real careers. 

 

More about the role:

 

  • Attending all Culinary workshops over a 12 month period as part of the Apprenticeship
  • To ensure you know all about the food being prepared and cooked so can advise customers
  • To ensure the kitchen and service areas are clean, tidy and attractive during service
  • To assist in preparation and cook sufficient food to provide the agreed amount of customer choice with minimum wastage
  • To support the effective control of a specific station within the kitchen.
  • To carry out the directions of more senior members of the kitchen brigade.
  • To ensure all food preparation is carried out in accordance with food hygiene procedures
  • To ensure food is prepared to required standards checking for taste, presentation and quality
  • To ensure food is served promptly and work is carried out quickly and efficiently to keep up when busy
  • To ensure all food sent out is correctly garnished

 

Who you are:

 

The ideal candidate would preferable need previous experience within a kitchen/hospitality environment.

 

Qualifications required: 

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade A-D / 3-9 (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Cookery/Food Technology is desirable

 

Other requirements:

  • A strong interest in food - preparing and cooking
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • This is a very hands on role and motivation is key
  • Spot new and innovative ways to produce food solutions to  our customers

 

What we'll give:

 

Up to £9 per hour

Monday-Sunday - working 5 days per week - you may be required to work evenings and weekends.

We have 1 Apprentice Commis Chef role available at The prestigious O2 Arena on 40 hours per week

You will need to complete a 12 month Commis Chef Apprenticeship which requires you to attend an Induction and 6 workshops over the space of 12 months. You are also given a Professional Development Coach throughout this duration.

Each year the team at The O2 help entertain  2.5 million guests across a broad array of live performances, concerts and award ceremonies, as well as large-scale bespoke events and brand activations. 

 

Quick Facts:

The partnership between The O2 and Levy UK is responsible for creating an unrivalled range of innovative food and drink concepts at more than 18 venues under one roof. At peak times a team of over 600 work across 96 suites and premium areas and 24 catering units.

Due to the nature of the arena and performances that are hosted, the demographic varies vastly, therefore all catering outlets and bars must allow for flexibility to appeal to all audiences. 

Levy UK also provides catering outside of the Arena for events that take place at Building Six & Indigo at The O2 and runs a destination bar NY-LON.

 

Client Objectives: 

To enhance The O2 as a destination for food and entertainment; with its transport and leisure infrastructure, no venue is better placed to motivate and activate your brand.

 

Results:

Levy UK has researched and developed 11 new bars and food concepts to create a new customer-centric food and drink destination. As a result of the redevelopment of Level 1 spend per transaction has grown 10% year on year.

The largest corporate event to date catered by Levy UK was for 12,000 guests. 

Since 2011, Levy UK has hosted and catered for The BRITs, providing food and drink for 6,000 VIP guests in hospitality areas throughout the live televised performance and awards ceremony.
