Job Introduction
Based within the Finance Team at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, the role will be to assist the Finance Manager and Business Partners with the following, but not limited to:
- Generation of sales invoices and credit notes
- Processing of purchase ledger invoices and credit notes
- Support debt management
- Preparation of detailed monthly files and reconciliation
- Weekly stock take spot checks on count and price
- Monthly reporting requirements
- Update month end schedules to support accruals
The apprentices will not have any supervisory/management responsibilities for any other employees.
More about the role:
Alongside your day-to-day duties, you will complete the Assistant Accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship. The primary role of the accounts/finance assistant is to complete daily financial and accounts-based tasks and to support the line manager and other team colleagues. You will be supported through this qualification by your Development Coach who will visit you at your place of work every 6 to 10 weeks. You are not expected to complete any of your apprenticeship work outside of your normal working hours and will be given set time each week to complete your work.
Who you are:
- Looking to progress a career in finance with the relevant qualifications (eg. AAT)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have an inquisitive and intriguing outlook with confidence to approach the business
- Ability to take on broad spectrum of work under pressure and to deliver in agreed timescales
- Excellent attention to detail
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate/advanced
- Pro-active approach
In addition to any previous experience, have a willingness to learn new procedures or ways of working in line with Company procedures.

SALARY: £22,720.00
LOCATION: Compass Group UK&I Ltd, Edgbaston Stadium, Edgbaston Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. B5 7QU
REPORTING TO: Finance Manager
HOURS/WORKING PATTERN: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday working an 8 hour shift between 8am and 6pm.
DURATION: Minimum 18 months

Over an 18-month period you will be trained to become a fully qualified Apprentice Accounts Assistant.

Your Apprenticeship is fully funded by Compass UK and Ireland, via the Apprenticeship Levy.
As a company, our Apprenticeship programme is subject to regulation from Ofsted and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). For that reason, each candidate must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for funding. This ensures our offer is compliant with all the quality and funding rules. Therefore, you will be required to complete the following:
Screening Call – you will receive a screening call to establish if you will be eligible for us to claim funding for your apprenticeship training with our training provider and the rules for this are set out in the ESFA funding rules 2023/2024.
European Social Fund – The Skills Funding Agency operates as a co-financing organisation for ESF and assures EU funding is correctly spent. The European Social Fund (ESF) is a structural fund from the European Union. It improves the skills of the workforce and helps people who have difficulties finding work.
