A new opportunity has arisen to join the Medirest Family as a Catering Assistant. We’re looking for caring, enthusiastic individuals to join our highly dedicated Patient Dining Team, delivering outstanding catering services that truly make a difference.
🍽️ What You’ll Be Doing
Every day is unique in this rewarding role. You’ll help provide a warm and welcoming environment for patients and staff, ensuring that meals and refreshments are delivered efficiently and hygienically.
Key responsibilities include:
Collecting two food trolleys from the main kitchen and transporting them to the dining rooms.
Providing menus, taking patient meal orders, and supporting dietary and allergen queries.
Preparing and delivering refreshments and meals for the dinner service.
Clearing down ward areas and washing up dirty dishes, ensuring that the pantry is fully cleaned after supper.
Cleaning the staff dining room to maintain a pleasant and hygienic environment.
Liaising with ward staff to ensure residents’ and patients’ needs are met promptly.
Delivering excellent customer service — always putting the patient first.

Our ideal Catering Assistant will:
Have an awareness of food safety and hygiene standards.
Be passionate about patient care, with excellent communication skills.
Work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a supportive team.
Be flexible, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile for patients and colleagues.
Feel comfortable working in a hospital environment and supporting patients who may be unwell or distressed.
No previous experience? No problem! What matters most is your positive attitude, pride in your work, and eagerness to learn. Full training will be provided.

This position is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, with costs covered by the employer.
Uniform and full training provided.
