Catering Manager

As a Catering MAnager you are in place to plan, organise and manage delivery of Back of House catering services within the catering Department at Addenbrookes Hospital.

You’ll ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement, KPIs and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained, and developed for assigned operational business areas, whilst contributing to the growth of all services in order to meet client and commercial expectations and maintaining strict budgetary control.

You should have excellent communication and people skills, previous experience in and NHS environment would be beneficial, you will need to be able to demonstrate a understanding of patient feeding have good to excellent computer skills is essential. This is a 40 hour per week post with some weekend and evening working so you will need flexibility in your routine.

More about the role:

  • Ensuring the delivery of a first-class customer facing service to Trust for the provision of patient meals and hotel services
  • Working with colleagues and client associates to continuously identify opportunities for additional services and service improvement across the range of services offered
  • Adopt and encourage a good H&S culture in the workplace
  • Continually monitor all H&S and Food safety standards in all service operations and ensure they are maintained at the required level
  • Manage the annual leave and company absence policy to ensure a smooth and seamless administration service
  • Ensure that reports, documentation, and key actions are completed in line with business calendars and contract requirements
  • Action customer compliments by praising staff and resolving complaints satisfactorily
  • Ensure that all costs and expenditure are within the budget levels agreed between the client and Medirest
  • Review training and development of direct reports ensuring personal development plans are in place and giving support in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards, identify, recommend, develop and implement new ways to increase organisational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety and/or cost savings.

Who you are:

Qualifications

  • Minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Management
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate

Training

  • Evidence of continuous development and training

Experience

  • Proven experience in catering sector, including stock management & an appreciation of budgetary process and financial understanding
  • Strong people management skills including general HR skills in recruitment, training and managing employee performance including disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Good numerical, interpersonal and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
  • Management knowledge of health & safety and food safety
