Contracts Director

Job Introduction

The purpose of this role is to lead and develop winning teams of departmental managers and frontline colleague teams to provide exceptional service to our clients and customers and deliver great results for ESS. To create a positive safety and wellbeing culture throughout the team to ensure the safety of people, clients and customers. Take responsibility for the delivery of all contracted services, particularly the successful management of the outputs of each of our strategic partners and sub-contractors.  Promote the reputation of ESS and ensure that every opportunity is taken to innovate and improve service standards and levels of customer satisfaction. Identify and implement different ways to grow the business through additional services and opportunities.

More about the role:

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Manage client and contractual relationships effectively in a collaborative and commercial manner ensuring compliance with company policies and ensuring that safety is placed at the forefront of all activities
  • Drive Catering services and retail solutions that at a minimum meet contractual obligations but aim to exceed new and existing customer requirements and are built around a commitment to continuous improvement, a drive for greater efficiency and operational excellence
  • Ensure that all sites are compliant with company and legal HSE requirements including Food Safety Management System, Food Information Regulations, Risk Assessment, Environmental Management, incident investigation and reporting
  • Ensure all RI cards, allergens, healthier meal offer promotions and wellbeing materials are clearly, appropriately placed and promoted
  • Ensure that all appropriate HSE Information, instruction, training, personal protective equipment and supervision is provided to all employees to enable them to carry out their work safely and effectively
  • Ensure that all company profit protection processes are embedded and followed, and SLAs are obtained
  • Build enduring collaborative, productive and effective relationships with Landmarc and clients
  • Review contract performance, identify improvements and ensure contract compliance to exceed client and customer expectations
  • Be accountable for and deliver overall financial budget and profit ensuring adherence to all finance processes, budgets are understood, and managers and their teams are held to account for their performance. All costs are continually analysed and managed, and measures identified to deliver efficiencies
  • Commit to service excellence, embed the ESS Way Commitments throughout the site and, working with the Operations Director and People Business Partner, ensure the existence of an effective training and development programme; act as an advocate for the ESS Way Commitments programme and continuously demonstrate the behaviours expected of a site General Manager
  • Be prepared to fully enhance existing service offers, drive service initiatives and take a full and supportive part in wider ESS teams, groups and study teams to develop better ways of working and share knowledge and experience and build more effective work processes
  • Ensure that the ration account is fully embedded within catering facilities and The Source is implemented and manged effectively in all food service retail outlets
  • Work alongside others, and leverage all Compass support systems and offerings, to deliver a compelling retail offering across the contract
  • Ensure productive succession and talent planning practices are in place and that talent identification, coaching and development are living policies; work closely in support of the Operations Director to build a regularly updated talent matrix
  • Support the mobilisation of new contracts as required
  • Ensure that team members are managed in accordance with company HR policies and guidance and that appropriate action is taken as required
  • Ensure that all required company audits are conducted as required and any corrective actions implemented
  • Manage subcontractors and develop collaborative relationships to deliver service as per the contract
  • Be flexible and assist with other reasonable duties as and when required.

Who you are:

Our ideal Contracts Director will have:

  • ·         Proven experience in managing successful teams and operating in a highly commercial Soft FM environment
  • ·         Single or multi site operational experience in a similar role with an understanding of delivering services to exacting specifications within quality and performance management regimes
  • ·         Experience of leading and managing successful teams to deliver great results
  • ·         Track record of growing sales and retaining business
  • ·         Foodservice or similar Soft FM background
  • ·         Previous budget management and  Profit & Loss account responsibility
  • ·         Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • ·         I.T & computer literate as well as contribution to web based communications media
  • ·         Excellent customer service qualities and high princilples in service delivery
  • ·         Demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • ·         and price sensitive markets.
  • ·         Collaborative mindset

Desirable

  • ·         Good knowledge of food production methods and procedures
  • ·         Retail operations experience
  • ·         Project / Change management and contract mobilisation experience
  • ·         Level 3 Food Safety Training - Manager will have current Level 3 Certification in Food Safety or be willing to achieving this within the first year of employment
  • ·         IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent - Manager should have completed IOSH Managing Safely Course or be willing to achieving this within the first year of employment
  • LEAN practitioner

£55000 per annum/ 40 hours per week 

Office based in Rubery, Parklands
