We’re looking for a proactive and people‑focused Deputy Domestic Manager to help lead our domestic services operation within the fast‑paced, high‑profile environment of Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Working as part of Medirest—the healthcare division of Compass Group—you’ll support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high‑quality cleaning services that directly contribute to patient safety and positive hospital experiences.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Deputy Domestic Manager, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of domestic services across the hospital. You will:

  • Support the delivery of high‑quality domestic services in line with NHS Cleaning Standards, infection prevention protocols, KPIs, and Compass policies.
  • Help maintain excellent cleanliness standards across all clinical and non‑clinical areas.
  • Support audit readiness and provide evidence for inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety policies, statutory regulations, and NHS requirements.
  • Lead and support supervisors and frontline teams, driving high performance and accountability.
  • Assist with coaching, developing talent, and embedding the One Compass culture.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safety‑focused working environment.
  • Support daily and weekly service planning including staffing, deployment, equipment, and materials.
  • Contribute to risk management, scheduling, and service resilience planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement, including Lean principles and digital modernisation.
  • Build strong working relationships with clinical teams, Trust stakeholders, and internal partners.
  • Provide regular operational updates and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Support incident reporting and follow‑up actions, including root cause analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies while maintaining service quality and safety.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident, values‑driven leader with a passion for quality and people development. You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • Experience within hospital domestic services or soft FM.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or managing large and diverse teams.
  • Strong understanding of regulated or complex operational environments.
  • Knowledge of NHS Cleaning Standards, IPC protocols, and statutory compliance (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with clinical teams.
  • Experience in audits, service reviews, or improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of labour planning, staffing rotas, or cost control (desirable).
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high service standards.
  • A compassionate, patient‑focused approach to service delivery.
  • A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset and passion for continuous improvement.
  • Good IT literacy and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and adapt within a fast‑moving environment.
