Job Introduction
We are recruiting for a Facilities H&S Manager on a full time (40 hours), permanent contract to join our leadership team in the Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 area, supporting our nationwide team.
As Facilities H&S Manager, you will take full ownership of health & safety, facilities, cleaning services, contractor management, and service compliance across our factories and school estate. This is a critical leadership role, ensuring that our sites operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently while supporting uninterrupted production, logistics, and school services.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will play a key role in embedding best practice, strengthening governance, and driving continuous improvement across facilities management, contractor control, and health & safety systems.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:
Health & Safety Management
- Lead and implement the Workplace Safety Management System (WSMS) across factories and support its implementation in schools.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, Compass and company standards, risk assessments, safe systems of work, permits, contractor control, incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Carry out H&S audits, daily site safety checks, and oversee safety validation, verification, and equipment safety inspections.
- Lead fire safety management including fire drills, warden training, emergency preparedness and support business continuity planning.
- Oversee chemical safety, PPE management, storage, and training across all sites.
- Lead or support incident, accident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and shared.
Risk Assessment & Governance
- Work closely with the Head of HSE to develop, review and maintain risk assessments and control measures for factories, schools, catering, cleaning, maintenance, and contractor activities.
- Ensure strong governance, record keeping and audit readiness across all HSE and facilities activities.
Facilities & Contractor Management
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and statutory inspection of buildings, fabric, plant, equipment, and site services across three factories and the school estate.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive works to minimise operational disruption.
- Implement and manage Compass Contractor Management, including contractor approval, RAMS review, permits, supervision, and safe completion of works.
- Manage and oversee a wide portfolio of service contracts, including but not limited to refrigeration, waste, pest control, laundry, cleaning, ventilation, fire systems, electrical, plumbing, gas, drainage and fabric maintenance.
Cleaning & Hygiene Management
- Take overall responsibility for cleaning services, including internal cleaning teams and external contractors across multiple sites.
- Lead, support and oversee the activities of internal cleaning staff across factory and other locations.
- Ensure appropriate training, audits, daily checks, holiday management, and performance standards are maintained.
- Oversee high-level cleaning contracts, hygiene monitoring systems, chemical management and cleaning equipment procurement and servicing.
School Support & Field Compliance
- Support WSMS implementation in schools, including site inspections, escalation processes, defect tracking and follow-up on hazards, incidents and maintenance issues.
- Provide expert support to local managers and school stakeholders to maintain safety and compliance standards.
Training & Competence
- Coordinate and support the delivery of training including forklift, first aid, fire warden, food safety and health & safety across sites and schools.
- Ensure managers and teams are competent and supported to maintain required standards locally.
Utilities, Waste & Environmental Controls
- Oversee utilities, waste contractors and site services, supporting safe operation and environmental compliance.
- Monitor contractor performance and service effectiveness.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Produce KPI reports on accident rates, audit scores, action closeout, maintenance performance, contractor performance and key site risks.
- Work collaboratively with factory managers, regional and school managers, supervisors, landlords, contractors, enforcement bodies and senior leadership to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
About You:
- 3–5 years’ proven experience in a Facilities, Health & Safety, HSE, or Operations Management role within a manufacturing, food, logistics, or operational environment
- Relevant qualifications in Health & Safety and/or Facilities Management (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, H&S Diploma, Facilities Management qualification, or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation, contractor control, risk management and facilities compliance.
- Experienced people leader with the ability to manage internal teams and external contractors.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and disciplined, with a strong focus on governance and compliance.
- Confident communicator, able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Calm, resilient and decisive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent issues simultaneously.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Operations, Production, Logistics, Quality and IT teams.
