Goods In / Stock Control Manager – Levy Merchandising
Salary: c.£33,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits
Hours per week: 37.5 (on a rota basis, Monday – Saturday)
Location: Wednesfield, Wolverhampton
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Goods In / Stock Control Manager to lead and oversee the end-to-end flow of inventory through our warehouse, from Goods In to Goods Out, ensuring the highest standards of stock accuracy, availability and control across both physical inventory and warehouse management systems.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on manager who thrives on driving operational excellence, improving processes, and ensuring stock integrity across a busy e-commerce warehouse environment.
As the subject matter expert for inventory management, you'll lead our Goods In and Stock Control activities, ensuring stock is received, processed, controlled, and accounted for accurately at every stage of the warehouse journey. You'll play a key role in supporting business growth by delivering exceptional stock accuracy, availability, and operational performance.
What you'll do:
- Lead and oversee the accurate receipt, validation and processing of all inbound stock, ensuring inventory is recorded correctly within the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Maintain ownership of stock accuracy and integrity throughout its lifecycle within the warehouse, ensuring alignment between physical stock and system records
- Investigate, resolve and report inventory discrepancies, including shortages, damages, incorrect deliveries and quality control issues
- Ensure all products are correctly labelled, stored and allocated to appropriate warehouse locations in line with operational standards
- Monitor inventory performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve stock accuracy and availability
- Support and lead regular stock counts, cycle counts and inventory audits, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and corrective actions implemented
- Develop, implement and continuously improve goods-in, stock control and inventory management processes to enhance operational efficiency and inventory governance
- Drive a culture of accountability across warehouse teams, ensuring stock handling processes are consistently followed, and performance expectations are met
- Ensure the timely and accurate processing of all goods receipt transactions and inventory updates within warehouse systems
- Analyse and report on inventory, goods-in and stock control KPIs, providing insight and recommendations to support operational decision-making
- Build effective working relationships with suppliers, logistics partners and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient inbound stock flow
- Ensure all goods-in and inventory management activities comply with company policies, operational procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping across the warehouse environment
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to colleagues working on Goods In and Stock Control tasks, ensuring high performance and adherence to established procedures
- Act as the subject matter expert for inventory management, providing guidance and support across the wider warehouse operation
Who you are:
We're looking for someone who combines strong operational expertise with excellent leadership and analytical skills. You'll ideally have/be:
- Previous experience in goods-in, inventory management, stock control or warehouse operations, ideally within a fast-paced e-commerce, retail or distribution environment
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, stock governance and warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy
- Highly analytical, with the ability to investigate root causes of stock discrepancies and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet operational deadlines
- Proactive and solutions-focused approach, taking ownership of issues and driving them through to resolution
- Comfortable challenging existing practices and holding colleagues accountable to established processes, controls and operational standards
- An understanding of health and safety, audit and compliance requirements within a warehouse environment
- Strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other IT systems
- Forklift licence (or willing to work towards securing licence)
