Join our dynamic team at Medirest as the Head of Culinary Operations, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our culinary and marketing strategy. As a key member of our leadership team, your hands-on support will ensure the achievement and maintenance of the highest standards across all Staff & Visitor Restaurants within Medirest and One Retail sites in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Operations: Take charge of all Medirest & One Retail Staff & Visitor Restaurants across the UK, providing hands-on support to Senior and local leadership teams.
  • Team Development: Monitor and support teams, identifying training needs, and fostering potential. Establish and champion the culinary succession plan.
  • Operational Excellence: Conduct in-unit hands-on culinary/marketing coaching, hold team meetings to communicate targets and achievements, and ensure compliance with set strategies.
  • Innovation and Wow Factor: Deliver new menus twice yearly, develop training guides, and operate our modular traveling pop-up, bringing the wow factor to in-unit experiences. Mentor & Support the annual NHS Chef of the Year Competition 
  • Client Engagement: Support and interact with both internal and external clients, leading on special events, and collaborating with the sales and retention team.
  • Efficiency and Compliance: Work towards reducing food waste, ensure compliance through performance measurement, and report via agreed tools.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrate high financial and commercial awareness, with previous experience in running P&Ls.

Who You Are:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds 706/1-2 or NVQ equivalent.
  • Skills: Computer literate (Microsoft Word and Excel), with excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience: Multi-site catering experience, ideally as a regional manager, with a strong background in catering.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, positive experiences in project/change management, and the ability to develop and manage teams.
  • Innovative Thinker: A creative and innovative thinker with experience working within brand guidelines to deliver results.
  • Business Acumen: High-level financial and commercial awareness, ability to drive and retain business, and experience in highly commercial and price-sensitive markets.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, coupled with demonstrable success as a credible and confident influencer.
