Head of Marketing I The Venues Collection I Remote
As Head of Marketing at The Venues Collection, you will be responsible for leading and delivering the marketing strategy for the hotel division of Compass Group UK & Ireland, specialising in meetings, events, and accommodation.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic vision and personal delivery, working closely with the Commercial Director to drive revenue growth, increase venue bookings, and build brand awareness across a diverse portfolio of properties.
The Head of Marketing will take full ownership of planning, execution, and performance measurement across predominantly digital channels. This includes paid search and social, SEO, email marketing, content, and website management, alongside tactical campaign activity to support sales conversion across the events, meetings, and accommodation business. Working alongside the hotel teams to support with local marketing initiatives to support each venues key revenue streams and drive local awareness of the properties.
Strategy & Planning
• Lead the development and delivery of the annual marketing strategy and plan, aligned to commercial objectives and revenue targets.
• Support the venue teams in the production and delivery of the venue Sales and Marketing plans aligning as required group activity to support key revenue strategies for the collection.
• Work in close partnership with the Commercial Director to translate business priorities into integrated, measurable marketing activity.
• Develop and manage a rolling marketing calendar, ensuring campaigns are planned in advance with clear briefs, timelines, and success metrics.
• Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activity, and customer insight to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities.
• To manage the relationship with TVC’s PR Agency and ensure that activity is aligned to commercial objectives and messaging.
Digital Marketing
• Own and execute the digital marketing programme, including paid search (PPC/Google Ads), paid social (LinkedIn, Meta), SEO, email marketing, and content marketing.
• Take a hands-on approach to campaign setup, management, and optimisation across digital channels, working with our digital agency where appropriate but maintaining full ownership and accountability.
• Oversee the performance and ongoing development of The Venues Collection websites, ensuring they are optimised for search, conversion, and user experience.
• Manage CRM and email marketing activity, including segmentation, targeting, and automation to drive repeat bookings and customer engagement.
• Manage the organic social media presence across relevant platforms, developing content plans that build brand awareness and community engagement.
Campaign Management & Budget
• Plan, manage, and deploy the marketing budget, ensuring activity is allocated to highest performing channels and delivers clear ROI.
• Develop and execute integrated campaigns to drive meetings and events enquiries, accommodation bookings, and brand preference across both B2B and B2C audiences.
• Manage agency and supplier relationships, including briefing, project management, and performance evaluation, ensuring deliverables are on time and on budget.
• Ensure all marketing activity is underpinned by clear objectives, tracked rigorously, and reported regularly to the Commercial Director & SLT team.
Brand & Content
• Act as the brand guardian for The Venues Collection, ensuring consistent application of brand standards across all customer touchpoints, from digital to print and on-site.
• Develop and commission compelling content that showcases the portfolio, including venue photography, video, case studies, and editorial content.
• Write and edit clear, engaging copy for a variety of channels and audiences, with support from agency partners as needed. Performance, Reporting & Insight
• Define and report on marketing KPIs including website traffic, lead volume, cost per enquiry, conversion rates, and revenue attribution on a regular cadence.
• Use data and analytics to continuously optimise campaign performance and make evidence-based decisions on budget allocation.
• Present marketing performance and strategic recommendations to the Commercial Director and SLT team in a clear, confident, and commercially focused manner. Team & Stakeholder Leadership
• Line manage the existing marketing resource with responsibility for performance management, development planning, and day-to-day direction.
• Work closely with venue teams and sales colleagues to ensure marketing activity is joined up with commercial activity and supports local as well as portfolio-level objectives.
• Manage Group comms & PR activity for The Venues Collection liaising with relevant stakeholders and wider Compass departments as required.
