Overview of the business

 

  • Match Day’s at Reading can attract crowds of up to 14,000 and the set up logistics for the Retail (concourse) Operation will form a key part of this role.
  • Despite being a football stadium, the majority of Levy’s income at Reading is from conference and events. It is anticipated that, in a normal trading year, the split can be as high as 65/35 C&E Vs Football. Hospitality revenue is approximately 40% of matchday income.
  • C&E events of 2-300 attendees are the core but up to 500 can accommodated.
  • The stadium can host multi events on the same day and will regularly trade 6 days a week.
  • Team work and a ‘can do’ ethic is vital

 

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • To deliver the logistical requirements across Retail, Hospitality and Conference/Events
  • Working with, and, guiding a small team to ensure all areas are set ready for ‘live days’
  • Using function sheets, to ensure all rooms are set according to customers requirements/instructions
  • To maintain clean and tidy storage areas ensuring health and safety and reducing equipment damage

 

Key Responsibilities

Daily and Frequent Tasks

  • Receipt and storage of non-kitchen deliveries
  • Setting up of Retail area for match days including transportation of beer barrels, stock and equipment
  • Setting up of conference and hospitality areas with chairs, tables and other such furniture
  • Cleaning and tidying of store areas, retail units and cellars
  • Assisting with beer line cleaning and other similar cellar related activities
  • Ensuring all bars are stocked ready for use taking care to ensure stock rotation and ‘best before dates’ are maintained.
  • Responsible for non-technical cellar service on matchdays i.e. stock issuing, barrel changing etc

  • To ensure that all company quality standards in every aspect of the operation are always adhered to
  • To effectively communicate company standards to your team and monitor adherence to these standards
  • To lead by example and ensure members of the team wear the correct, full and clean uniform whilst on duty. Actively address all issues in relation to non-adherence of Company standards
  • To respond to the pace of the business in terms of speed of work and productivity
  • Ensure safe working practise for use of electric cables including securing trip hazards and working within load capacity of plugs/cables/power outlet

 

  • To be aware and adhere with statutory, legal and Company requirements for:
    • Health and Safety
    • Food Hygiene
    • Licensing Laws
    • Employment Law
    • Fire Regulations
    • Sales of good/Trade Description
    • Personnel/HR procedures
  • To report all maintenance issues and hazards as in the Company Health and Safety Manual

 

Learning and Development

 

  • To ensure that all new team members are inducted, trained and developed to ensure that the highest levels of efficiency within the operation and customer service are always employed
  • To engender good staff, customer and client relations always

 

 

Miscellaneous Responsibilities

 

  • To report, and where possible take action for, any incidences of fire, damage, breakdowns or other occurrences
  • To demonstrate best working practices in all duties and comply with Company Manuals
  • To uphold all Levy Company policies always
  • To support the wider Levy operation in external event management at the discretion of the General Manager
  • To be an ambassador for Levy always
