Retail Manager – Levy Merchandising  

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience, plus benefits 

Hours per week: 37.5 

Working pattern: 5 days per week - will include some evening and weekend working 

Location: Wolverhampton – will involve regular travel to other sites

We’re looking for a commercially minded and driven Retail Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the retail operation for several of our retail sites across the UK including the Wolverhampton Wanderers Megastore in Wolverhampton and the Elvis Evolution Merchandise Store at ExCel Waterfront, London. You’ll also take the lead on overseeing our event retail operations. 

Reporting to our Head of Operations, you’ll take responsibility for management of the P&L, store performance and safety and risk for the sites you manage, as well as leading the Store teams and creating an environment where colleagues feel empowered to achieve their best work. You won’t be afraid to be hands-on, with a visible presence across your sites and a dedication to both service excellence and delivering exceptional customer service. 

This is a fantastic role for someone who excels in a fast-paced environment and who relishes managing the challenges and opportunities that come with managing multiple retail sites. You’ll also be comfortable making key decisions quickly whilst prioritising customer experience. We’re a new and growing business and this role will give the right candidate the opportunity to develop and progress their career within retail operations. 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Manage the implementation of our retail strategy across your sites translating the strategy into a clear and deliverable plan

 

  • Be the figurehead and senior point of contact for our partners across your sites 

 

  • Take ownership of the P&L and be responsible for managing and improving the day-to-day operations and performance of KPI’s for your sites

 

  • Be responsible for ensuring your sites are trading effectively, delivering exceptional customer service, and hitting financial and operational targets

 

  • Take a lead on trade planning and budget setting for your sites

 

  • Ensure all sites meet brand and merchandising standards, compliance requirements, and customer expectations, as well as operational metrics including revenue and payroll budget

 

  • Monitor and manage performance and availability metrics across all sites, using data to identify issues and opportunities

 

  • Work with our Buying, Merchandising, E-Commerce and Marketing teams to optimise product mix, pricing, promotions and instore visual merchandising

 

  • Provide local range feedback to our Buying and Merchandising teams

 

  • Take a lead on inventory management and stock take across retail sites

 

  • Lead the development of standard operating procedures across all sites

 

  • Ensure compliance across your sites, ensuring the business follows health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards 

 

  • Lead, develop and coach the Store teams to maximise performance and grow in role and provide an escalation point for any day-to-day queries

 

  • With the support of your teams, take a lead on scheduling and rota management

 

  • Work closely with our Head of People to support talent development, recruitment, and succession planning

 

  • Champion and build a positive, inclusive team culture aligned to our values where everyone can speak up and share their views

 

  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive consistency, reduce waste and improve store execution

 

  • Support new store openings and refurbishments as part of our growth plan

 

  • Play a role in and collaborate on strategic projects, as required 

 

 

This role would suit people who have/are:

  • previous retail leadership experience 

 

  • commercially minded and understands how to drive sales and control costs

 

  • an experienced people leader with the ability to inspire and support to deliver results and identify and coach talent within your team

 

  • operationally rigorous – gets the detail right and leads from the front

  • strong understanding of retail KPIs, stock control, compliance and customer service excellence

  • ability to travel to meet the needs of the business

 

We anticipate the successful candidate will spend around 3 days per week at the Wolverhampton Wanderers Megastore in Wolverhampton and 1 day per week at the Elvis Evolution Merchandise Store at ExCel Waterfront, London initially.
