Job Introduction
As part of the world’s largest contract caterer, Compass Group UK&I operates multiple brands in the education, business, healthcare, government, defence, sports and leisure industries where we provide both food and soft facilities management services.
Our data team at Compass operates under the brand E15 for both internal stakeholders and with our clients. The E15 Insights & Analytics team owns the development and roll out of self-service analytics across Compass UK&I, working with sector teams and supporting functions to build data-driven decision making into their everyday activities.
Following an internal move, we are looking to hire a Head of Insight and Analysis to lead the continued expansion of our self-service ecosystem to more colleagues and clients. Candidates must have a background in Insight & Analytics but also an appetite for engaging at all levels across the business – from pitching senior leaders to championing our E15 platform with groups of colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build a network of relationships across the business to identify cross-sector and cross-functional insight and analysis opportunities.
- Engage senior leaders within both the Compass UK&I business and client organisations, ensuring data & analytics.
- Oversee data & analytics projects aimed at improving business growth and profitability, for example price optimisation.
- Champion the transition from our legacy Cognos reporting system to our newly commissioned E15 platform, based on AWS.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of dashboards using AWS services, namely Quicksight, across all business areas.
- Contribute to the overall E15 strategy development and execution, including increasing application of data science and generative AI.
- Coach, develop and manage six analysts who are based in Birmingham on a hybrid working basis.
- Train and educate the business users to understand and use dashboards effectively.
- Work under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities from a full range of stakeholders.
- Regular travel to our Birmingham office to establish a presence with the analyst team and key stakeholders plus visits to customer units and our head office in Chertsey as required. We actively encourage hybrid working and typical patterns include 2-3 days at an office or other site plus 2-3 days from home. Access to a London office can be made available for this role.
Who you are:
Essential
- Experience managing and developing a high performing team of analysts, including embedding industry best practices and technical discipline
- Strong understanding of business drivers, including financial performance
- Direct experience with dashboard and reporting tools such as Power BI, Amazon Quicksight or Tableau
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Experience in a management role, with a focus on analytics
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage ambiguity
Desirable
- Degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, or a STEM subject.
- Prior experience in the food or procurement industries
- Agile development methodologies
- Familiarity with Python or R
- Exposure to Cognos or similar reporting systems
